Peaking at #5 in December 2025 on the UK dance charts with the song “We’re Not Going Back” penned by Karel for iconic dance diva Thea Austin of “Rhythm is the Dancer” fame, Karel kicks off 2026 with a thought provoking dance anthem called “I Dance Because,” featuring the soulful backing vocals of Jeanie Tracy. As Karel states, “I Dance Because” is dedicated to all the LGBTQ people that have filled the dance floors with me who are no longer here to dance. I dance because we did.”
As the global LGBTQAI+ community comes increasingly under attack by ultra conservative governments, especially in America, where basic rights and privileges are being stripped away for just being Queer or Trans, “I Dance Because” is a poignant yet hopeful dance floor rallying cry. During the 60s & 70s the Queer & Trans communities not only took to the dance floors to express their individuality, they also took to the dance floors to both mourn and celebrate who they lost to AIDS, Homophobia, and Transphobia. “I Dance Because” recognizes that fight and struggle and celebrates it.
To make this anthem globally dance floor accessible, five top LGBTQAI+ remixer producers were tapped to interpret this dance floor call to action. Dirty Disco’s Mark De Lange presents his iconic American peak hour house sound on both the Mainroom Remix and Dub Remix. Matt Moss, who also provides a peak hour mix, takes a more classic early 2000’s approach with more stripped down breaks. Rafael Mesa creates a rolling Tech House Remix with that is both edgy and still pop-floor friendly. Robbie Carrigan takes “IDB” to the festival and circuit party, with a Remix & Dub that is rich with big room drums, tribal percussion, a heart pounding baseline, and swirling synths. Rounding out the release is the House of Frappier Original Club, the mix that started it all. Produced by both Karel and Leo Frappier, the HOF Original is both radio friendly and early evening dance floor forward, with uplifting keyboards, piano, and warm base.
