Platinum Recording Artist THEA AUSTIN collaborates with LGBTQ Trailblazing Entertainer KAREL on new Anthem “We’re Not Going Back!”

Who would have thought that in 2025 with all the progress marginalized communities have made in America and the world in the last 20 years, that one world leader and his followers could set America and the world back so severely and so quickly. In a matter of 100 days, whole segments of the LGBTQAI+ community are being erased from books, monuments, and websites, while the working classes that make this country run are being arrested, deported, or just erased. Thea Austin declares “We’re Not Going Back!”

Written by Karel and produced and performed by Thea Austin, the voice of multiple club generations including  Snap’s “Rhythm is The Dancer,”  Soulsearcher’s ‘Can’t Get Enough” and Pusaka “You’re the Worst Thing for Me” just to name a few, “We’re Not Going Back”was inspired by Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign of joy and hope.

Boldly produced pop at its finest, the original version is lyrically thought provoking and musically infectious. With outstanding mixes on offer from DJ Wick, House of Frappier, Rafael M, and Matt Moss, this track is set to light up dance floors and playlists alike. From the mid-tempo R&B heavy DJ Wick Roller Skate Club perfect for poolside and radio play, the two hands-in-the-air peak time house mixes by both House of Frappier and Matt Moss, to the gritty, no-holds-barred club weapon that is the Rafael M Tech Vibe Remix,  “We’re Not Going Back” The Remixes go straight for the dance floor jugular.

Million-selling singer/songwriter Thea Austin (Snap! Rhythm Is a Dancer, SoulSearcher I Can’t Get Enough) and history-making out Entertainer Karel (KFI Radio, KGO Radio, multiple song releases, TV host/showrunner, author) have teamed up to create a song of hope, of defiance and joy with “We’re Not Going Back” Available now. Written by Karel and produced and sung by Thea Austin, the song was inspired by Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign of joy and hope.

“After I saw Kamala here in Las Vegas, I had to write something,” Karel stated. “The phrase got to me. As DEI initiatives, affirmative action and other rights are rolled back, I thought, no, she’s right, we’re not going back! I immediately thought of Thea to sing it and she graciously said yes.”

Austin, a native of swing-state Pennsylvania who has called LA home for decades, used her magic to make the song next level. She recorded in Los Angeles and produced the song as well as providing all vocals, leads, and backgrounds. This showcases her R&B and Pop skills and proves she is one of the most versatile singers working today.

Austin is no stranger to hits. “Rhythm Is A Dancer” is still a world-wide phenomenon celebrating 30 years, and hits such as SoulSearcher’s “I Can’t Get Enough” and over 20 others have kept her at the top of the charts. Karel made history on KFI Radio and again on KGO as the first openly gay host to host a show and has been a trailblazer in entertainment, landing him a spot in the Harvey Milk Plaza in Long Beach for his work to further #LGBTQ causes through entertainment and writing. He still writes, records, does a daily podcast and television from Las Vegas.

DJ Wick from New Orleans (Aka John Wicker) and Rapper/ Artist Kennedy Ward from Los Angeles heard the original and were inspired to add their talents to an infectious Dance Remix that brings the song to an entirely different demographic as well. Leo Frappier, House of Frappier, has also done a HiNRG House remix for the clubs giving the song universal appeal. Then once presented to Swishcraft Music, America’s largest LGBTQAI+ dance label, additional Piano House and Tech House remixes were added to to inspire more markets.

With it’s empowering message, infectious rhythms, impeccable production and searing vocals, “We’re Not Going Back” is destined to get people dancing, and thinking as we move towards a future of inclusion and joy.
