A self-taught musician, media artist, and writer, Obra burst onto the international club scene as a DJ in the early 2000s. His presence resonated within the underground circuit parties of Cali, Colombia (Mistika, Club Oz) and Puerto Rico (Eros). In the United States, his powerful sound has reverberated across dance floors in Miami, San Diego, New Orleans, and his hometown of New York City. Expanding his reach, Obra launched the Official Obra Primitiva Tribal Session Podcast and a bi-monthly internet radio show streamed on platforms like Hearthis, SoundCloud, and MixCloud, where his high-ranking casts consistently dominate the Tribal house category on Podomatic.

Within the club scene, Obra has showcased his beat-rich sets twice a month at renowned events, including the FREAK Party Thursdays, HOTMALE Fridays, and Saturday Evening Xtreme (S.E.X) at the legendary G Lounge in New York City, alongside events at Splash Superclub NYC’s F-Word Party, Bartini Ultra-Lounge, and CLICK Fridays at the superclub XL and BPM NYC. In 2013, he brought his distinctive sound to the MATINEE PRIDE Event, sharing the stage with a lineup of top international DJs. The following year, he captivated the West Coast crowd at the ACTION Underground Party during San Diego Pride, marking his debut performance in the area. His presence has also been felt at nationally recognized parties such as STATION, HAUS of FANTASY, and NSA (Cellar Bar).

Currently in New York City, Obra Primitiva sets a high standard as the preferred DJ/Producer for launching epic parties like Ski High, Eu4ria (Hudson Terrace), Circuit, KINK Evolution (EVO), and TROY Afterhours. His commitment to delivering a high-caliber, unique musical experience has secured him a residency at the landmark party BRUT at Santos Party House/Irving Plaza. In 2016, Obra once again made waves on the West Coast, launching the afterhours party RAUNCH in San Francisco and becoming a prominent figure within the coveted Afterhours circuit in Los Angeles with RELOAD.

A highly respected producer, Obra crafts productions that are a microcosm of a carefully curated collection of talented artists and producers who have left their imprint on house music across generations. His dedication and passion have led him to develop a distinct sound within the tribal/progressive house genre, influenced by iconic DJ/Producers like Ralphi Rosario, Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Hex Hector, Friburn & Urik, and the legendary Club 69’s Peter Rauhofer and the Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles. Obra’s powerful erotic tribal sound reflects his rich influences, blending history, rhythm, and explosive Latin beats with entrancing yet energetic melodic baselines.
