Lori Michaels: The Dyke Diva Who Turned Passion Into a Movement

Lori Michaels burst onto the national stage in 2006 with her groundbreaking “Coming Out” party at the House of Blues in Atlantic City — a first for the iconic venue and a defining moment for the powerhouse performer Curve Magazine called “the stuff of lesbian legend.”

By 2008, Lori had transformed that fearless energy into her debut album Living My Life Out Loud, cementing her reputation as a bold, unapologetic artist. Dubbed “The Dyke Diva” for her magnetic stage presence and commanding vocals, Lori earned praise from Bravo’s Andy Cohen as “Lesbian Superstar.”

Teaming up with multi-platinum producer Giuseppe D., she hit the Billboard Dance charts in 2010 with the chart-topping hit “Rebound.” That success catapulted her Me & The Girls live shows across the country and onto television via Here TV, where she headlined Pride festivals and high profile events— even belting out the National Anthem for major sports franchises.

Her heartfelt ballad “Unconditionally” became a wedding favorite (earning praise from Andrea Bocelli) and found new life in animal rescue campaigns & more, underscoring Lori’s deep connection to love, community, and compassion.

Offstage, Lori channels her drive into PEAK Performing Arts Center, her 11,000-square-foot hub for performing arts, fitness, and wellness in Bergen County, NJ — where she and her elite team inspire kids, teens, and adults to express themselves through movement and music.

As the founder of REACH OUT, Inc., a nonprofit organization she began at 16, Lori’s mission has always been bigger than the spotlight: to educate, empower, and uplift through creativity and action. Her song “Reach Out Together” became the anthem for New Jersey L.E.A.D., and her collaborations with the NBA Nets and NFL Jets (just to name a few) brought her message of unity to arenas nationwide.

Today, Lori Michaels continues to write, produce, and perform with the same fire that started it all — proving that when you live your life out loud, the world can’t help but watch and listen.
